Guts ‘n Grunts is on Xbox and more

Guts ‘n Grunts is a mid-paced action-packed gaming experience that draws inspiration from retro classics like Contra. And it’s out now on Xbox, PlayStation, PC and iOS.

Brace yourself for intense shooting, underwater escapades, and adrenaline-fueled rolling, all while immersing yourself in a world where pigs fight for their freedom. It comes from developer Cascadia Games, who seem to specialise in farm animal-based action games. At least if their previous release M.A.D Cows is anything to go on.

A pig’s tale of rebellion and liberation

In the dystopian future of April 7, 2060, the Technate rules with an iron grip, creating a race of intelligent pigs bred for their own slaughter. Enter Rudy Hammon, a special boar with a singular purpose – to overthrow the oppressive Technate and put pigs in charge.

It’s here where you’ll witness Rudy’s journey as he takes on mutants, giant robots, and pork-crazed scientists. Why? Well, his mission is to bring down Klaus Küller, the highest-ranking Technocrat.

The game trailer shows you just what porky mayhem follows:

Take part in epic battles

Join Rudy Hammon on his quest to dismantle the Technocratic infrastructure and liberate the porcine populace.

As you navigate through the game, you’’ll discover power-ups, earn upgrades, and engage in epic battles that determine the fate of pigkind.

Guts ‘n Grunts promises an action-packed adventure filled with challenges that pay homage to classic gaming, all set against the backdrop of a rebellion led by a pig on a mission.

Porcine liberation begins now

If you fancy fighting for pig freedom, Guts ‘n Grunts is available now on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. You should also find it on PS5, PS4, iOS, and PC. How much? This one will set you back £8.39 on the Xbox Store

Due to a bit of a mix up with release dates, some players might have already been enjoying the game for the past three weeks, but today marks the official release date.

Stay tuned for our full review.

Game description

Inspired by games like Contra and Turrican, Guts ‘n Grunts is a mid-paced action game with lots of shooting, swimming, and rolling. Find power-ups. Earn upgrades. Fight for pig freedom!

APR 07, 2060. It has been 40 years since the Technate has taken control of the world. In their arrogance and gluttony, they created a breed of intelligent pig. These pigs were trained from birth to self slaughter when they reach mature age. For a time, the Technocrats enjoyed their meat.

Then, a special boar was born — one hellbent on destroying the Technate and putting the pigs at their rightful place atop the tower. His name was Rudy Hammon.

Rudy must destroy the Technocratic infrastructure in his mission to dethrone Klaus Küller, the highest of the Technocrats. Along the way, he will face mutants, giant robots, and pork-crazed scientists who can’t stop eating.
